Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, such as sweatshirts, T-shirts, leggings and tank tops. If you choose to wear shorts, please wear long shorts. Layers are best. Please do not wear anything with zippers, snaps, or buckles, as it will scratch and damage the apparatus. Leave your shoes at the front door and please wear clean socks. Although not necessary to practice Pilates, you can purchase socks with non-slip soles and 5 toes. They allow the toes to wiggle and spread which creates strength and a more solid foundation. Mat, water, towels, refreshing wipes, disposable toothbrushes and hand sanitizer will all be provided for you!

Pilates can be practiced daily. 1-3 sessions per week is ideal. We encourage 2 sessions per week to fully immerse the body in the method and experience the benefits most effectively. Consistency is key. Home practice is encouraged.

Results depend on your commitment to Pilates. You may feel a difference after only 1 session, but generally the results will be most obvious after 10 sessions. Joseph Pilates said: “In 10 sessions you will FEEL the difference, in 20 sessions you will SEE the difference, and in 30 you will have a WHOLE NEW BODY.”

No, Pilates is a full body workout! BUT, it will enhance any other type of training or practice by teaching you to move and breathe correctly and promoting longevity by creating an injury free environment. It will increase speed, stamina and mental focus. Many Navy Seals units practice Pilates as an adjunct to their training program in order to avoid injuries and counterbalance the severe strain placed on their bodies.

Absolutely, one of the benefits of Pilates is increased flexibility! Lacking flexibility, coordination or feeling unfit are great reasons to make Pilates part of your life!

As with any medical condition or injury, it is important that you have a release from your physician to exercise. Pilates can integrate into a rehabilitative exercise program to speed recovery from many medical conditions and injuries. It’s a fantastic way to safely challenge yourself and continue strengthening your entire body post physical therapy.
